ALUMINIUM IN THE WORLD OF ART (Excerpt)

From Alu Globe, september 1997

Since she started working with the metal four years ago, British-born designer Louise Nippierd says she hasn't used anything other than aluminium for her exotic pieces of jewelry. In fact, she is so taken by the potential that aluminium represents, that she regularly delivers lectures about anodized aluminium at the The Nationale College of Art and Design in Oslo.

«After watching the anodizing process, the possibilities literally flowed over me – in all colours,» she says. «I also like the flexibility of aluminium. Price? It's cheaper for me to use aluminium than silver, because I enjoy large pieces of jewelry.»

Louise Nippierd adds that she would like to «make aluminium jewelry for the music video industry, where the effects are heightened.»
